Formula Renault UK Championship

As a development series showcase for emerging open-wheel talent, the Formula Renault UK Championship can boast an impressive pedigree of graduates!  The most recent ‘stars’ to emerge from the British-based series are former champions Kimi Raikkonen (McLaren-Mercedes F1 Team) and Antonio Pizzonia (BMW-Williams F1).  Such was Raikkonen’s meteoric rise to F1, the Finn jumped directly to Grand Prix racing from his championship winning season in Formula Renault UK back in 2000.

The Formula Renault UK Championship forms a part of the prestigious British Touring Car Championship support package, which consists of 20-races held at 10 double-header events on legendary circuits such as Brand Hatch, Donington Park and Silverstone.  With grid numbers regularly averaging up to thirty or more drivers, the series is also one of the healthiest open-wheel development championships in the world.  This year’s line-up includes racers from the United Kingdom as well as Canada, China, France, Ireland, Sweden, Turkey and The Netherlands.
