Another Pole and Podium Finish For McIntosh at Sears Point
August 26, 2001
The demanding track of Sears Point Raceway in Sonoma, California was the site of this weekends SCCA Regional/National event. With very limited track time, young Sean McIntosh had to learn the technical track very fast. Sean did just that, for the first qualifying session as he notched 2nd and was in a good position to claim his first victory. As the green flag waved, Sean tucked in behind first place, Travis Irving and the Primus duo began to pull away from the rest of the field. As the race wore on, the two drivers were separated by heavy traffic and Sean had to settle for another second place finish. On Sunday, qualifying was held for the second race and Sean took the pole position by a small margin over teammate Travis Irving. Although the Primus Racing West team did not race on Sunday everyone knew that McIntosh was fast and was once again a favorite to win. Coming up for the Primus West team is winter testing as they prepare for next year and the 2002 USF2000 national championship.
