Round
2 Qualifying – World Series by Renault, Monte
Carlo, Monaco
Sean McIntosh, #6 Team KTR – Qualified 9th
in Group B, Starts 18th
Sean McIntosh endured a difficult
qualifying run in the #6 KTR entry ahead of tomorrow’s second round of the
World Series by Renault in Monaco as his 25-minute session was interupted by
red flag caution periods.
Limited to a handful of laps on the tight
3.34km street course, McIntosh’s best lap of 1m28.389s placed him ninth fastest
in his group and 18th on the grid for tomorrow’s 25-lap race. With the grid limited to 26 cars, the
21-year-old Canadian racer qualified comfortably from the 30-car field on his Monaco debut.
Prema Power Team’s Christian Montanari, the defending race
champion, claimed pole position today with a lap time of 1m25.390s.
Sean McIntosh - #6
Team KTR:
“Well it was a case of stopping and starting. I went out for three laps then the first red
flag came out, no sooner were we all back on track then another red flag came
out. I knew it would be hard to learn
this circuit and it’s easy to see how experience really counts as we’re on the
back foot compared to the guys who’ve been coming here for a couple of years.
“We’re pretty limited with our track time as it is so I just
tried to get in a few laps early in the session. I couldn’t do anything about the red flags
but in the end of the day we just didn’t get the running we’d hoped for. It’s a simple goal for tomorrow, stay out of
trouble and continue to learn the track and build my own experience here so I
can come back in the future armed with more knowledge.”
Tomorrow’s race starts at 11am CET and will not include a
mandatory pit-stop.
